Education System in India
Indian Student : Rethinking the
Indian Education System
According to PIB(Press
Information Bureau), India's school education system serves 24.8 crore students
across 14.72 lakh schools with 98 lakh teachers. From a survey by CareMe
Health, it was revealed that over 65% of students reported experiencing stress
due to their academics. Mental health for students learning in our country has become
a wistful story which can't be shared with anyone due to multiple reasons of
their own which makes them fidgety and which leads them to emotional
isolation . A girl studying in Jalgaon
preparing for NEET examination reported that she feels constant stress due to not
sharing that multiple reasons causing her stress. Why would a person will stop to share things with his own friend? Is it
that people are not understanding the situation of student's mental health? Or there are any
peculiarities and deeper reasons behind this mental health issue? The students
I have met, the friends of my own, can't share their mental health issues with
me. The reason behind this is subtle that the students studying in 2025 have
changed to a greater extent. In 2025, students know how to manage stress, fear
of failure, anxiety and depression and also how to overcome with them. But
there's a quiet challenge we should take into account that students want to do it all by themselves,
all alone. They want to fight with their battles alone , they don’t prefer to
ask for help . This thing may scandalize half of the population of our
country. When we get acquainted with these facts, they are really obscure. The
main reason behind this stress is students are not able to make someone
understand their reasons for the stress due to our bewildering and piqued
Indian education system. Because the education system in which my all brothers
and sisters across India are learning have never been taught by anyone the
vanity of communication skills and if there was such curriculum regarding
communication skills, it was vanished before it could reach the students of
villages and the students studying in teir 3 and teir 4 schools or some of the
private schools. The grim reality behind this is that whenever a new policy, a
new change regarding our education publishes or it is taken into practice , it
has never been made for a ‘Compulsory rule’ for every school or even college and changes
always begins in schools from Pune or Mumbai and other cities never enjoys the
total and perfect benefit caused due to these newly generated policies, the
students studying here never enjoys the intended benefits .
When we talk about great
people, they achieved a lot many things in an elated manner during their years
of studying and graduation despite being the part of our education system. They
learned things in my country, they grew and they touched the sky. But what if a
student is trying so hard to achieve
those same heights; which they had reached so that he or she will be the new
generation of great people, will never reach that height because he or she
being pissed off due to our education system. This student could be someone
preparing for IIT-JEE like exams. NIMH(National Institute of Mental Health)
says the teen brain has an amazing ability to adapt and respond to new
experiences and situations which are the necessities for innovation and I am
confident about the impassive even being receptive Indian students will love
something like innovation and this innovation by young minds will be a
benediction for the society. But when I brood over this idea, I remember the
catastrophic situation of the teen trapped in this system. The teen here is despised of giving
himself completely to an entrance exam just to spend 4 years of life in a
prestigious institute without any sense of innovation and elegance to achieve
excellence during the preparation of such examinations . Not every teen but 90%
of teens, the JEE journey could be a deplorable section of life for most of the
students as this journey could be emotionally draining and mentally taxing for
99% of winners and failures of this battlefield . IITs are good colleges, they
are indeed perfect in the immaculate thoughts of students. But when questions
rises on the topic concerning IIT, why we all just say” Increase the seats of
IITs”, why we never demands for “Let's create equal opportunities in every
college of India”. Frankly, I’m not speaking about the 2.5 crore packages in
IITs but at least we should aim to provide good facilities, education ,teachers
and most importantly opportunities for
the students studying for their respective graduation programs in India. The
system doesn't need a brisk change but needs awareness for that particular
section because innovations are still
taking place, people are achieving even being an non IITian , but the changes
which are happening because of them are meagre for our population and also
for the upcoming generations .
Generally,
everyone criticizes the syllabus portion when awareness is raised regarding the education system. The first word they can
say is “Ohh, the syllabus” . In my opinion , syllabus is not an issue . It just
needs a 5% of attention. I’m a 12th pass student and I can say assuredly that
the textbooks till 12th are designed in a endeared manner . The syllabus is
outdated is a myth. When I see books aligned with the NEP policy, syllabus
remains no more a problem but it needs attention that the state board textbooks
and curriculum should also follow the same. We need not to have a drastic
change in syllabus but we need to feel a small change caused by long term
efforts.
Education is a process of
learning and acquiring knowledge, skills, values and beliefs through formal and
informal instruction. The education system is the backbone of any society,
encompassing all institutions, policies and practices that deliver formal
education to an individual so that he or she could be able to make a change in
societies and they would lead to an independent life. Programs like NEP(National
Education Policy) and Pariksha Pe Charcha are helping students formally and
informally with their education, but they are not enough. They are making a
change possible for some set of students, but we need a change possible for not
every student, but minimum of 95% of
students, learning in tier 1, tier 2 and tier 3, 4, including every corner of
India. We don't need a system that teaches us to be averted, successful and
disconsolate, but we need a system that teaches students to take risks, the
system that aims to make us a better person in life. There are a lot of issues
which will create a turmoil in this newspaper and will acquire the whole newspaper
if I continue. To all reading this and aiming for a change in the Indian
education system, we don't need a feeble, ruffled and suppler big change, the students need a change which will be
beneficial for them in every manner and the first step to create this change is
that we need to understand the root problem and create a gash awareness about
it and then proceeding for the solution by consistent efforts. It will take
time but it is possible. And to all those who often complaint about this system
and feels things shouldn’t be like this , my advice would be aim for excellence
and you’ll find your way . The change which will be beneficial for a large
scale community of young learners in India is necessary in 2025.
